From Criminal Court to Immigration Court
Noon-1:00p.m.- Attorney Daniel Thomann will present an overview of immigration consequence analysis to help criminal law practitioners spot the right issues. Topics will include an overview of the removal (deportation) process, the continuing impact and limits ofPadilla v. Kentucky , and what criminal practitioners need to know about TVDLs.

1:15p.m.-4:30p.m.- Attorney Daniel Thormann will give an overview of current developments in immigration law by looking at the basics of topics including TVDLs, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), "stateside waivers", and what the end of DOMA means for Illinois civil unions and same-sex marriage. Presentation followed by a "Bring Your Own Questions" session.

In January 2009 he started his own immigration law practice, and in 2013, Daniel joined Maria Baldini-Potermin & Associates, P.C., a Chicago-based immigration law firm with a national reputation built on winning complicated cases and advising other attorneys on cutting edge legal issues. Daniel 's practice focuses on removal defense, appeals, federal litigation, and cases involving criminal issues.
